About us

The website "www.olympics-records.com" was registered in the course of Sydney 2000 Olympics by a group of sports enthusiasts in Kerala,a State in India whose History is well known for 'Kalaripayat',the martial art whose origins are credited to Parasurama,if not antiquity. The legend gives credence to the election of the Perumal who would run the Chera kingdom, the latter day Kerala, on the banks of Bharathapuzha by warriors displaying their martial skills. It is said the winner rules the land for the next twelve years and the scene is set for another mamankum in the hallowed banks of the river.Physical fitness of the warriors called for rhythmic movement of the human body at a level of excellence to overcome the enemy. The kalaris in Kerala is the traditional households engaged for centuries in the training of kalaripayat and Ayurvedic massages to fine tune the body.Herbal medicines and life style modifications strengthen immune systems bringing body's energy centres back into balance.Spread of Budhism in Far East(China,Japan etc) has adapted different into forms of martial arts such as kung fu,karate etc.which are similar to kalaripayat.

The modern day games pursue excellence of a different kind albeit reflecting human aspirations of reward and immortality. Indian performance in the games since 1928 has been rather sketchy barring individual brilliance in one or two events owing to characteristic suppleness of the Indian physique. Our prescence in the Olympic arena remain representative although archery, gymnastics, wrestling etc are potentially true to our physique, traditions and culture. Ayurvedic fine tuning to enhance performance is an area of topical interest since the rewards of competitive sports unfairly encourage competitors to resort to use performance enhancing drugs.
